About Theresia
Theresia Helen Alamsyah is a London-based interior and lighting designer, and the founder of TERE Atelier, an international practice working across the UK, Europe, and Asia. Her work moves fluidly between architecture, interiors, and sculptural lighting, with a distinct focus on designing space through light as the primary driver.
Rather than treating lighting as an applied layer, her approach positions it as a spatial medium. One that shapes perception and the emotional weight of a space. Each project is developed as a dialogue between light, material, and form, resulting in a spatial language that is both precise and experiential.
She holds a Master's degree in Interior Design from the Royal College of Art, London, and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Sydney, where she was awarded the Dean's Outstanding International Merit Scholarship. Her academic work explored materiality as narrative, a foundation that continues to inform her design thinking.
Theresia has worked internationally across residential, commercial, and hospitality projects, with a specialised focus on bespoke lighting installations. From large-scale chandelier commissions to integrated interior schemes, she operates across concept, technical coordination, and fabrication to ensure each piece is both contextually expressive and rigorously resolved.
Alongside her design practice, she maintains an ongoing sculptural exploration by bringing a sensitivity to material, composition, and detail. She sees design not as a trend, but as an intuitive, evolving language. TERE Atelier is her way of shaping that language into something that lives.
