What each option on our product pages means, and how to pick the right one.
MDF Panelling
Our MDF is made in our own factory, so the options reflect what the mill can cut. Five product types, each with a slightly different option set.
Options by product type
Panel mouldings
Width, thickness, length, finish
- Width: fixed per profile (range across the line: 20-72mm)
- Thickness: fixed per profile (range: 9-25mm)
- Length: 2440mm, 3050mm or 4200mm
- Finish: 4 options (no Unprimed on this range)
Dado rails
Width, thickness, length, finish
- Width: fixed per profile (range: 50-75mm)
- Thickness: 18mm or 25mm
- Length: 2440mm, 3050mm or 4200mm
- Finish: all 5 options
Wall panelling strips
Width, thickness, length, finish
- Width: 20mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm, 95mm or 120mm
- Thickness: 6mm, 9mm or 12mm
- Length: 2440mm or 3050mm (no 4200mm on strips)
- Finish: all 5 options
MDF shelves
Depth, thickness, length, finish
- Depth: 12 options from 50mm to 400mm (how far the shelf projects from the wall)
- Thickness: 15mm, 18mm or 25mm
- Length: 2440mm, 3050mm or 4200mm
- Finish: all 5 options
Panelling kits
Kit contents + finish
- Each kit is a pre-designed combination of strips, mouldings and (sometimes) dado rails
- Supplied as a set of pre-cut pieces sized to your wall dimensions
- No width, thickness or length options to set
- Finish: 4 options (no Satin Black on this range)
Rule of thumb on thickness. 15-18mm works in most rooms for a subtle shadow line. Choose 25mm for a bold, architectural look on feature walls or period properties. Panelling strips go thinner (6-12mm) because they’re layered onto the wall rather than standing alone.
Finish
Five finish options, though not every product offers all five (see the cards above).
Unprimed
Raw MDF, straight from the cutter. No coating of any kind. You’re taking on primer, undercoat and topcoat yourself.
Choose if: you’re happy to prime and paint from scratch, or want full control over the base finish.
Primed
Factory-applied primer, ready for topcoat. The fastest route to a painted wall: two coats of your chosen colour and you’re done.
Choose if: you want a specific paint colour without prepping the MDF yourself.
Undercoated
Primer plus an undercoat. Smoother base than primer alone - fewer coats of topcoat needed for a professional finish, especially with darker colours.
Choose if: you want the smoothest painted finish with less effort.
Matt Grey
Finish-coated in a contemporary matt grey. No further painting required - fit it straight to the wall.
Choose if: grey suits your scheme and you want zero painting.
Satin Black
Finish-coated in satin black. A subtle sheen without being glossy. Works especially well with Crittall-style schemes and dark modern interiors.
Choose if: you want black panelling ready to fit.
Tip. Matt grey and satin black can be overpainted, but need a light sand and a primer coat first.
PVC Wall Panels
Waterproof tongue-and-groove PVC wall panels in a plank format - typically around 8mm thick and 250mm wide. Dimensions and coverage vary by product; check the product page for exact spec. Sold individually - pick the product, then set the quantity.
Pattern and finish
Each product is a fixed pattern in either a matt or gloss finish. The pattern families in the range:
- PlainSolid colours.
- MarblePhoto-realistic marble effect.
- Tile effectTile patterns printed onto the panel.
- ConcreteIndustrial concrete finish.
- BrickExposed brick look.
- StoneNatural stone texture.
Quantity
Use our Wall Panelling Calculator to work out how many panels you need from your wall dimensions.
Tip. Order from the same batch where possible - shade can vary slightly between production runs.
PVC Shower Panels
Waterproof PVC shower panels in a large sheet format - typically around 10mm thick and up to 1m wide. Fewer joints than the 8mm plank range, faster to fit over a shower enclosure or bath surround.
Sheet vs plank
- 10mm sheet: near-seamless look, faster fit over a shower enclosure.
- 8mm plank: narrower format makes fitting around pipes and fittings simpler.
Pattern and finish
Same pattern families as the plank range, in both matt and gloss. Not every pattern is offered in both formats.
Acoustic Slat Panels
Vertical MDF slats bonded to a felt backing: the slats add texture, the felt absorbs sound. Pre-assembled panels, typically around 600mm wide x 2400mm tall.
Product ranges
Each range is a separate product line, not a dropdown option. The differences are slat count and whether the panel is acoustic, waterproof, or both.
Acoustic Slat Wall Panel
Our core acoustic range. Dense slat layout with a felt backing that absorbs sound. Available in a range of wood-effect and painted finishes.
Lite (15 slat)
15-slat panels at a lower price point than the Standard range. Available in Charcoal, Light Ash, Natural Oak and Walnut. Check the product page for full spec.
Standard (15 slat)
15-slat panels with a wider colour range than Lite: Light Ash, Metallic Gold, Natural Oak, Rustic Blue and White.
Premium (8 slat)
Eight ultra-wide 15mm-thick slats on a 9mm acoustic felt backing. A chunkier, more architectural profile than the 15-slat ranges. Available in Charcoal, Grey Oak, Light Ash, Natural Oak and Walnut.
Finish and size
Each panel is a single wood-effect or painted finish, factory-applied. Standard size across the acoustic range is 600mm x 2400mm - divide your wall width by 600mm and round up.
Tip. Plan cuts to fall between slats. Cutting through a slat leaves a raw edge.
Decorative & Ceiling Panels
Specialist panel formats for feature walls and ceilings. The main choice is which format fits your project.
- Waterproof 3D slat panelsSlat-style look without felt backing. Waterproof - use in bathrooms and wet areas. Standard and Premium large-slat lines.
- Waterproof 3D fluted panelsContinuous vertical fluting. Fewer visible joints than slat panels. Also waterproof.
- Ceiling-suitable PVC panelsNo separate ceiling-only line. PVC wall panels can be fitted overhead using the same approach.
Samples & Bespoke
Order samples
Colour, texture and sheen are hard to judge from a screen. We sell offcuts of MDF finishes, PVC pattern swatches, and slat panel sections so you can see them in your own light before committing to a full order.
Bespoke and custom orders
We manufacture our MDF in-house, so non-standard widths, thicknesses or kit layouts are often possible. Trade quantities, specific finishes, and one-off specifications can all be discussed.
Bespoke is only available on our own MDF products. Typical lead time is around 2 weeks on top of standard delivery.
Tell us about the project and we’ll suggest the right option.
